When babies cry

There are numerous reasons as to why babies cry. Sometimes babies cry because they are hungry, sometimes because of indigestion and stomach pain while some other times, they just cry for no reason at all! Indeed, handling a baby is no easy task. Hats off to all the mothers who have raised and have been raising their kids so well!

In the human kind, crying is the first form of communication. It is the only way a baby communicates to their mother and father. Crying is also a language in itself. Ask most experienced mothers and they will tell you what sort of crying means what for the baby. Over the period of time, mothers tend to understand what the baby is expressing through its cry.

Most of the times, babies cry when they are hungry. Babies also sometimes cry because of fatigue. The first time parents really get apprehensive because they think that the baby is facing certain problems or going through pain that the parents cannot understand. But some babies cry for no reason at all. Your baby will eventually outgrow this habit. Some babies also cry before going to the bed. A bedtime routine and adequate rest during the day is what the baby needs. Babies also cry because they often feel uncomfortable if they have swallowed air. Try and keep the baby upright as this will help them to swallow less air while feeding. Just observe for a few days what suits your baby, what are the certain patterns that your baby follows and what are his sleep timings. You will slowly get to know why your baby is crying and will be able to provide him or her with the right thing.

Most of the parents today are able to provide basic necessities like food, water and shelter to the kids but they are somehow lacking in emotional aspect. Blame it on changing dynamics of parenting or busy state of every person but things are definitely not that encouraging. This phenomenon is even more prevalent in urban parts of the world.

Small things matter a lot in life especially in the sphere of parenting. Building their self-confidence, paying attention to their little requirements, little pep-talks and some close touch is all that is required for good parenting. Vaccination in Children

As far as vaccination in children in concerned, there is a serious lack of awareness in spite of the government attempts to popularize this. Vaccination in children is a must because even though antibodies are passed from mother to the unborn child and after birth, mother’s milk continues to provide additional antibodies, this protection is not permanent. Vaccination provides protection against diseases and in the growing years of a child. Hence, vaccination is a must.

Through vaccinations we have been able to prevent a number of diseases. There are certain vaccines that are to be given at birth, namely BCG, oral polio vaccine and hepatitis B. Then at sixth, tenth and fourteenth week, DPT with polio vaccine & hepatitis B need to be given. At the age of nine months, a child should be given a dosage of measles vaccine. What vaccination does is that it injects a weakened microorganism that causes the ailment so that the immune system in our body is stimulated to fend off the weakened microorganism. The immune system also remembers to fight off the organism if it enters the body later.

Vaccination is one of the most effective ways of preventing a disease. Vaccines have known to be ninety percent effective. Most of these vaccines are subsidized by the government and hence is the most economical way of preventing diseases.

Dieting in teens

Today being thin has become a fad. Not only are adults on strict diets, but they are also putting their teens on diet. First and foremost do not put your children on diet without prior consultation with your doctor or dietician. Instead, learn and let your child too learn about the importance of a balanced and a nutritious diet. Encourage some sports into your child’s life and try and be as subtle as possible when you tell your child what to eat and what not to eat. Do not put dietary restrictions at the first go. This might be seen as a compulsion and your rebellious teen may not want to follow that.

Do not talk about your child’s overweight problems and dietary restrictions in front of relatives and friends. Do not make a big deal about the issue and let your child learn and understand why he should avoid oily fatty foods. It is natural that your teenager might get tempted to eat outside food that may not be healthy. It is ok to let your child indulge in the same once in a while. Once your child realizes that he needs to balance his meal he or she will automatically not be tempted to eat oily and fatty foods.

Don’t give keep too many fried munching items at home. It is not fair to expect your child to stay away from these when you and the rest of your family are enjoying it. Importance of family for a child

It is undoubted that the biggest support that your child requires is from the family. This is where the child feels his or her comfort zone. It is a matter of safety and security that the child feels. It is the family and the environment that shapes the child. Here, children get their share of love, support, learning, dealing with emotions etc. Hence in growing years of your child, ensure that he gets proper support from his or her family. Family support helps a child as it makes him grow in self confidence and improves and builds his personality. Family also helps the child to learn things that he would never otherwise learn even in school. Indian values like tolerance and respect are taught only at home. Children who do not get adequate family support are not only shy and introvert, but sometimes, it even has effect on the child’s psyche.

Some children may reach a stage where they become a loner. These children also become or in their communication skills. Hence a healthy family support should be ensured to your child. This family support is like a banyan tree. It will help your child grow and since the roots of this tree and spread deep inside the soil, it will make sure that the child stays grounded. Your toddler must be very fond of toys and why not, children just love toys. The role of toys is very important in the development of a child. It is not only essential for recreational purposes but also for learning and development. The future development of a child very well depends upon how has been treated in his formative years. Parents must ensure their child is getting best possible opportunities for learning and progressing purposes. While we are focussing on learning, toys come into the picture. The importance of toys has been established in aspects like sensory skills, social and motor development of the child. From that perspective, it becomes important for parents to choose right kind of toys for the toddler, considering its future implications.

The first rule is to get hold of simple and solid toys. The reason is children love to break toys by throwing away or banging them or using them against the walls. In such light, what’s the point of purchasing a delicate or sophisticated toy? Parents must be quite alert while purchasing toys. There are factors like loose parts, sharp edged toys or toxic paints harmful for babies etc that should be considered while parents decide to buy toys. The logic is quite understandable because of child’s habit of putting everything in his mouth.

A baby develops his first taste of social skills while he plays with ball. Point to be noted here is, while a baby throws ball to someone the latter throws it back and in the process there is development of social skills. Toys with buttons, levers, push buttons must be givn preference because toddler will learn to do something on his own. Take for example, toy telephone which is quite useful in sowing the seed of conversational skills. Similarly, parents should opt for storybooks, building blocks and push-pull toys.

Being Happy for mothers…

Everyone is looking for happiness around. But happiness is not the goal of life it is the way of life. It is a result of doing what you like. It is about relating to people honestly. Happiness is about being oneself. Making your own decisions, doing what you want because that is what gives you happiness; it is about being independent and allowing yourself to be free. It is about seeking the best in the world and seeking the best in our self.

It is so easy to do the opposite – to cling to others, to fall prey to other’s expectations, to control people, to blame them, to play with relationships, to tease, and to live on the fringe of other’s lives. If you are not your own, then you are never going to be happy. If ever you feel that sense where you are forced to be someone else, solve the situation but do not pretend. Life has a meaning attached to it and if that meaning dies, there is nothing that is left to your life.

Hence it is necessary that you motivate your own life. Motivation is one of the strongest key that drives you to be your own self and it is this sense of awareness and independence that helps one to do what brings happiness to us. There are so many people who say that they want to be happy but they do not lay emphasis on their own self. Hence, self love is one of the strongest loves.
